Sports Massage

A remedial sports massage is ideal for all kinds of athletes - from the amateur jogger to the suburban marathoner. It's a favourite massage for pre-event training, reduced recovery time and post-injury rehabilitation. Gone are the days of recurring hamstring strain and shin splints with no relief!

A regular sports massage can result in greater flexibility, reduced fatigue, improved endurance, injury prevention, enhanced mind/body preparation, decreased muscle soreness, stress relief, a deeper sense of relaxation, larger range of motion, lower blood pressure, boosted circulation, reduction in chronic aches, scar tissue, pain, and muscle stiffness or tightness.

A remedial sports massage is an ideal solution if you have any of the following issues:

  • Chronic pain
  • Lower back pain
  • Limited mobility
  • Injury related pain or issues
  • Repetitive strain injury such as carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Postural problems
  • Muscle tension
  • Osteoarthritis pain
  • Sciatica or Pririformis syndrome
  • Tennis elbow
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Need for relief after a workout or bodybuilding

If you’ve never experienced a sports massage before, you can expect a massage therapist to use fingertips, knuckles, hands, elbows, and forearms along with strong pressure and slow strokes to really affect changes in the deep tissue. You may experience muscle soreness or tenderness for 1-2 days and should drink lots of water to flush out any toxins that are released from your muscles and to rehydrate your tissue, reduce muscle aches and stiffness. You may also want to stretch a few hours or the morning after your massage to prevent muscle aches or pain. Sports therapy massage is recommended every week or two for clients who pursue consistent physical activity.
